you guys ever been part of a disaster before? it fucking *sucks*. It's the most unsorted and uncertain you'll ever feel in your life.
as a dad, you'll pass that feeling on to your kids, because it's written on your face. as a kid, you are just aimless, trying to find waypoints. so any version of normalcy you can stake a claim on feels lifechanging.

Disasters absolutely sucks. Especially the ones with devastation like this.
I was in southern Mississippi after Katrina helping clean up and that mental picture of all 5 senses is something I can recall perfectly even now. It's just surreal in a way to see stuff you had seen a month or two prior just completely gone.
