Hey OP, sorry to hear you have been struggling with depression for so long. Besides therapy there are many things you can do. On YouTube there's a canal, therapy in a nutshell, I think it's a good start. Obviously there are more different things on YouTube, more and less valuable but I'm sure there are also some videos that can help you. I think it's important to work through trauma. Talking to a trustworthy friend about it can also help just fine. And again on yt there are also some videos with guided meditation especially to help you with your trauma. It might feel hard, but it will also be a relief, because it ain't much better bottled up inside. Just being/acting positive won't work in my opinion I don't think there's a true shortcut. There are also many valuable books. About trauma, depression, habits. It helps to read some that feel interesting to you (many books you can get digital or as an audiobook too in case they are not available where you're at). Writing, drawing, dancing, yoga, breathing exercises have all helped me a great deal. Talking to AI/chatGPT asking all kinds of questions about my troubles has actually also been very helpful. Two little things I try to do to be more positive is to everyday take a moment and think of the things I'm grateful for. And everytime I do something good, even as small as bringing some dishes to the kitchen, to acknowledge it. I say to myself I get one point! Or I get 5 points! or 20!, etc depending on how big the thing is I do, I don't keep a list but it just helps me to acknowledge the positive things I do in a day, which makes me feel a little better about myself. Anyway, I hope this reply reaches you and will be of some use. Take care!
