View submission: My Venlafaxine Taper -Efexor XR

Don't envy you. I need to start lowering my dose as I want to come off it completely. Been sitting at 115mg for 2 years. I found going down 37.5mg every second day for 2 weeks was tolerable, staying at dose-37.5mg for a month, before dropping down again.

Only reason I'm still taking it is that I'm anxious about the destabilization associated with reducing dose!

I empathise and agree, I waited so long on a (relatively) minor dose mostly because of fear of withdrawal and destabilisation that came not from my actual mental health, but a drug side effect. I imagined all sorts of horror scenarios at work, making some sort of major calculation or design error or having a random breakdown or throwing up in front of colleagues. But so far... some malaise but nothing anyone else has noticed.

I can't imagine going down 37.5mg in one hit. I didn't go the route of alternating up/down daily doses because the half life of Efexor is so short
