Hey there! I just arrived to Lund from Spain for my PhD stay at ESS. I will be here several months so I want to make some friends to hang out :D Back home I was following a self defense course, it was a mix of martial arts and it was pretty fun. I wonder if there is anything similar here in Lund? I also brought the hiking boots so that might be another option idk Thanks for your suggestions!

There's various places to hike around Skåne and I believe they can be reached by public transport - check out Skrylle, Söderåsen, Fulltofta, Häckeberga, to name a few (or befriend someone with a car!).

Newcomer period is over so training isn't adapted for newbies any more but you're still welcome to come. If you do arrive before the start so that you can talk with one of the trainers before.
It just means that you'd have to follow along with certain things without as much one on one assistance that is given during jan-feb.
Depending on your department you will have access to different flyers. So if I were you I'd take a day going to most departments and checking out their notice boards.
