#HAPPENING TODAY - LIVE THREAD HERE
Global is an annual official Reddit meetup held worldwide. In Los Angeles it's a potluck where people come together, make new friends, hang out, talk, play games, throw a frisbee, meet a horse, eat pizza, whack a pinata, spin the bottle, make out, freeze tag, capture the flag... anything social, really. You can arrive at anytime and leave whenever. Open to all ages.
Global will be held once again in beautiful **Griffith Park**! Easily accessible by car off the 134 and 5 freeways, the *Mineral Wells Picnic Area[1]* is green, shady, and has plenty of free parking. The area is ideal for picnicking and lawn games. Carpooling is encouraged.

So we can anticipate attendance numbers, we highly recommend **RSVPing in this thread** and letting us know what you are bringing. There is no formal registration. There will be name-tags available at Global- you can use your Reddit username or your real name.
Global is a **free social event** that relies on volunteers and donated items (chairs, canopies, sporting goods, food, drinks, plates, utensils, etc.). No payment is ever collected or required, but **we encourage bringing something to share**. Donations are also welcomed to cover the cost of this and future meetups.
Staying with the potluck theme that's worked in the past, we're asking everyone to bring something: food, drinks, utensils, coolers, plates, water, ice, sunscreen, board games, blankets, card games, bluetooth speakers, some sort of shade providing items, stuff to play with on the field (soccer ball, football, baseball, so forth) and most importantly a willingness to meet new friends. Let us know in the comments what you'll be bringing. There is a Costco in Atwater Village where you can easily pickup pizza or other bulk snacks.
You can coordinate carpools in the comments below.
In the past, Global was organized by /u/barbehque and a handful of volunteers. Now it's up to me. Sorry in advance.

We will need 5-10 people to help set up and keep an eye on the welcome table, greet people and hand out name-tags/wristbands, etc. All volunteers will get the custom flair "LA Global Ambassador" if they want.
Set-up starts at 9am. Tables, chairs, canopies, balloons, coolers... I don't have any of those, but **I have a large pickup truck and can pickup larger items that gets donated for use for the event**. I will bring coffee and donuts for everyone that helps to set-up.
I will have lots of trash-bags to accommodate all trash. Please be mindful of what you leave behind.
The 21+ Afterparty is being hosted by /u/MannyAPH nearish to the picnic, likely near Atwater Village.

I'll be there, plus 2 and puppy! - So glad Griffith is canine accessible.
Put me down for setup, and bringing ice, water, watermelon and sandwiches/fixings for 15-20. Might also bring fried chicken or wings depending on estimated turnout.

I'm in. I can carpool up to 4 people (but the forth person will be cramped). I'll be joining the after party too so if everyone carpooling is staying we can start a pre after party party.
I'm in Whittier so anyone along the route from Whittier to Griffith (either the 5 or the 60 depending if there is multiple carpoolers on opposite routes) is fair game. You can pay by throwing a dollar or two, snacks, party vibes, or good music selection.
