They're actually pretty fragile. The seeds can stay in the ground for years and years waiting for the right conditions. We just had enough rain the past few years to get a couple super blooms. But not every flower seeds. Not every seed blooms. Fuck up enough flowers and it can be years before we see this again even in good conditions.
And if you don't care about the ecological factors, then how about it being illegal to stomp all over the flowers.
