55 years ago, my grandfather stood on this dock as a Merchant Marine. We still have the postcards that he used to send back home to the family when my mom was a kid❤

My ex's birthday is this weekend and she's probably spending it with her new dude. I don't want to be stuck inside in my thoughts, but my friends all seem to be busy. I'm thinking about taking a solo trip (which I've never done) somewhere like Arizona or something

Last night my dude went out to a very ~fancy~ deal-making dinner with other producers and his director, so I had to scrounge for dinner by myself at home. Made a few pathetic fried polenta cakes that ended up being gross and I only ate one, but no biggie. Then he shows up at home with his leftovers, and says the food was so, so good he only ate half of it so he could bring the rest home to me. Like, it was so good he couldn’t eat it all because he wanted me to have it. I’m married to a really thoughtful, cool dude.

I had the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve ever had yesterday. So delicious. I also loooooove flan. So to update my diet status: I’m not doing too well.
Off to Joshua tree today. At least I’ll get some exercise there.

I woke up pretty early so drove over to my parents place to wait for them to get back because I haven't seen them since before my trip!
Got some delicious coffee from my fave cafe, about to try to make poached eggs, listening to a bomb spotify daily mix playlist, and calling my project partner in a bit to discuss our proposal. Quite a good morning and I'm feeling great :)

I behaved myself all week and was good about food.
I refused to partake and watched our office mixed mini candy crafty dwindle down from Snickers to Twizzlers to Almond Joy until nothing remained in the basket but Milky Way, the last candy refuge of the truly desperate.
I was even good last night. I went to Paley (Parks & Rec reunion, was awesome) and on my way home I was exhausted and my defenses were down. I was ready to eat a giant burger and fries but I told myself that I, much like Retta, would treat myself this weekend. So I got home and made a salad and I feel great this morning.
Plans for the weekend include writing and some exercise, ideally in the form of a hike.

Slept the fuck in, which felt so good. Spent my day off at work all day yesterday, but boss was pleased with my work. Project seems on track.

What is it about airports that 1. Makes me hungry the moment I’m past security 2. Crave ginger ale and 3. Want to pee every 10 minutes?
Sitting here in LAX, just pounded down an overpriced and underwhelming breakfast burrito, already thinking about finding a $4 ginger ale (ya girl doesn’t even drink soda) and wanting to pee for the 3rd time.
I got here stupid early because I kept getting text notifications about long security lines but it was a breeze.

Little one's 11 Birthday celebration is happening tomorrow at Medieval Times with the whole family, I've never been there before so pretty excited about it :-) and three more weeks until our family vacation to Costa Rica, I am ready for 7 full days of beach, hammocks, beer, nature and relax!!!!
