Every homeless person I've spoken with says KARM treats them like shit. KARM sucks and doesn't deserve your donations.
Edit to add: if you want to help organizations that actually help homeless people, there's a group of people that meet on Saturdays at 2:15ish at the south part of Charles Krutch Park. They come with homecooked food and occasionally have donations like clothes and non-perishable foods. They're super awesome and know a lot of great organizations.

Can confirm. I've spent many hours down there with various charities feeding folk, giving out socks and blankets and shit, and providing pro bono legal aid. It's not easy staying at KARM, they say.
I know it's difficult to deal with people with a high incidence of addiction and mental illness, but here is a thought... maybe we should have a plan other than jails and homeless shelters to combat these problems to begin with.

Thanks for the info! I've been looking for a place to donate my old clothes that isn't Goodwill. Are other people allowed to bring clothes, and if so, do they have any specific requirements for how they're brought? (Aside from being clean, that's a given)

I used to work for Helen Ross and this is definitely the consensus.

Do you know this group's name? I'm usually down in the square on Sundays to watch soccer matches, and I'd love to help them out after!
