Hi, I am an aspiring Eagle Scout located around Knoxville TN. I am currently working on my eagle project, which is to build one to two trophy cases for my high school band room. I am having trouble finding a glass company to help me with the sliding glass doors I would like to have. Every glass company I've found thus far does mostly home/car window repair. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good glass company?

Good on you for pursuing this. No recommendations but if you find a company and need help with donations/cost shoot me a message and we can coordinate with them and I’ll help as I can.

(Old) Eagle here. From the project you're describing, here's a couple paths I'd explore:

1. Local trophy shops. They most likely have experience with cases for the trophies by extension of their business and could direct you to the local supplier they use.

2. Local cabinet shops. They use that type of glass and the hardware needed.

3. Hardware stores like Lowe's sell single pane glass cut to size. It would be on you to cut/drill/glue/install sliders and locking hardware.

4. Reflect on these questions: Most large trophy cabinets are frameless and cost several thousand dollars. Review boards really want to see you leading a team of other scouts to accomplish a difficult task. Are you comfortable framing large, expensive, fragile materials? Will the younger scouts in your troop be able to safely and competently do the same? What percentage of the project will have to be handled by adult leaders or professionals? Myself and others from my patrol went through multiple project revisions because of these aspects.

You'll have to get tempered glass which is unfortunately expensive but the place my dad has used before is Standard Wilson which is off of Morgan Street in downtown and my dad used them to make glass for his display case.

I saw Knox Glass Co Inc recommended, but Clinton Glass might also be able to help. Good Luck!

Maybe Southern Glass Co. out of Maryville. I’ve seen their trucks in Knoxville so I’m not sure if they have an office in town. Make sure whoever you find, tell them about your project. Maybe they can cut you a deal for a little advertising ( sticker or placard that says glass supplied by… for {your name here} Eagle Scout Project).

Glass Pros, off Middlebrook, handle custom jobs like re glazing windows and doors or made to order shower doors. They are able to obtain tempered glass, as is recommended for your application. There's another place that I've used for a custom cut mirror but I'm drawing a blank on the name. Clinton Glass referred me to them a few years ago.
