It's common practice to tip ice cream folks. I'm from Jersey and we do this all the time. It's usually $1 per cone, but no more than $5 if you're buying for a family or something. Definitely nothing you can make a living off of and it's actually considered rude to have a sign asking for tips.

You probably wouldn't. I wouldn't. They should be paid min wage. They probably are but are just begging for tips.

This "all jobs should pay a living wage" stuff is nonsense. You can't pay your labor force 43k per individual per year to scoop ice cream. If you think shit if expensive now, just wait until that happens. There needs to be a segment of the economy for kids/entry level/part timers.
