It’s a marketing term like “ hand crafted” I guess hand scooped can differ from soft serve where it is dispensed from a machine

That reminds me of the time I once ordered a "beefsteak tomato salad", thinking that "beefsteak" was a fancy way to say steak, like how companies now say "vanilla bean ice cream" because the extra word makes it sound fancy.
I was so disappointed to findout that "beefsteak" is a type of tomato, and I had just ordered a plate of tomatoes with herbs and a balsamic reduction.
