Exactly. The same people saying this bullshit "speech doesn't do anything" all over reddit are the same people who don't want us to do anything in the first place, or else they'd put their money where their mouth is.

Ehh I think it's worse. It gives people a useless outlet. It's letting the steam out in small spurts and leads to inaction. If protesting takes 3 units of pissed off, and a stupid reddit post relieves 1 unit of pissed off, then people won't hit a useful point (posting on Reddit where most people agree with you and everyone jerks each other off with up votes and awards that funds a fucking corporation is not useful). It's a modern-day bread and circus.

Who knows, I could be wrong. Maybe people who wouldn't do anything after all (most people) participate in some way. The protests in California are always nice to see. I hope it becomes widespread but I don't think so even though a lot of people agree with it. I wish I could be omnipotent and know what actually would get more people interested in doing useful work. For all the posting on Reddit, the number of dems that turned out was pathetic last election cycle and Reddit was obviously where a lot of their bots + people who drink the Kool-Aid existed.

Sorry a little rambly, just from my observation as it becomes more popular young people doing useful work in politics has significantly decreased among the target Reddit population. Maybe it's la cause. Maybe just correlation.
