There are over 250 nesting pairs of bald eagles in TN; they stay year round n this area. From the 1960s to the 1980s, there were none. Thanks to conservation efforts, especailly banning the insecticide DDT, their numbers are rebounding.

It's one of the most successful examples of the Endangered Species Act. The bad news (hey it's 2025) is a recent presidential executive order on energy threatens to subvert the ESA.

A friend of mine lives on the south face of Black Oak Ridge up behind Fountain City (about five minutes from the duck pond), and has seen (he thinks) a mating pair of them flying around that area. I bet this is the same one!

We have a bald eagle nest in our back yard. There's so many around. Always neat to see them.

I live in Fountain City and swore I saw one flying overhead about a year ago and my wife said I was crazy.

I saw a pair of them flying over the Washington pike and Mill Rd intersection in like November. It was pretty cool, haven’t seen them since but I’m glad to know they are still vibing around (if it even is one of the ones I saw)

What a treat to see one this close. I hope to see some in the wild out here.

I saw one while I was driving on the Henley Street bridge back in 2020, I think. And then one while I was driving on Oak Ridge Hwy in 2015 or 2016. Pretty cool to see nature slowly healing in small ways.

There is a nest by the Kroger on Emory road. There are two birds and I’ve seen them almost every time I’ve gone to pick up groceries. I first noticed them last summer and I’m happy they are sticking around.

Eagles that can be returned to the wild that have been rehabilitated generally from Dollywood have started to make it come back in the area. I've seen several around Fort Loudon lake Blount county side.
