Our attention has been drawn to a social media video showing a verbal exchange between a passenger and a Kenya Airways agent at the transfer desk in Nairobi (NBO).
The guest was traveling from Lagos to Nairobi, Paris, and Manchester. On arrival in Nairobi for her connecting flight (Nairobi-Paris), it was discovered that she did not have a SCHENGEN Visa, which is a requirement for her to enter any European Union Country.
She was offered an alternative to travel through London and onward to Manchester, which she refused.
Upon further investigation, we have established that the video does not provide full context.
Unhappy with this option, the guest demanded accommodation, which Kenya Airways does not provide in cases where boarding is denied due to visa requirements. It is the responsibility of passengers to ensure they have the necessary documentation for their journey.
In a distressing turn of events, the guest resorted to inappropriate behaviour by removing and throwing 3 used sanitary pads at our employees.
We strongly condemn such conduct. While we remain committed to delivering exceptional service, we expect all interactions to be based on mutual respect. Our employees deserve to work in a safe and dignified environment, and we do not tolerate any abuse from our employees or guests.
The incident has been reported and is under investigation by the relevant security agencies. We are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and guests at all times.

Nigerians are always so loud, aggressive and bellicose I bet the passenger started it then started recording after provoking and eliciting a reaction from the Kenya Airways agent.

Why did they let her board in Lagos without the necessary visas? They are right that it is her responsibility to have the necessary documents. And that’s a very random itinerary to get to Manchester

I regret to mention that there seems to be a lack of manners among certain individuals from Nigeria. Even if the airline is at fault in this situation, I feel she may have behaved or spoken inappropriately. Additionally, her threat to involve corrupt officials in the issue is quite funny 🤣

A slay queen in the wrong sleuths hands. They say, "While under investigation in Kenya, you will know what you don't know".

If what KQ says is true then that Nigerian passenger is dead wrong that’s nasty. Also she shouldn’t have been allowed on the plane from Lagos without a Schengen visa.

Yeah no, Kenya Airways has not fully explained their refusal to board. Was this itinerary on a single ticket? Meaning the passenger's luggage was checked through to Manchester and she did not need to pass through Immigration in Paris to go check in for the Manchester flight? If that's the case, they should have been clear on that. KQ's response is vague about this and makes it look like they wrongly denied boarding by insisting on a transit visa when none is necessary.
The throwing of used sanitary towels is also mental.
This video and KQ's response just makes the airline look incompetent (not that KQ needs help looking incompetent) and the passenger look insane.

KQ needs to be revised.
Edit: As some ppl didnt really get what I meant: The Nigerian Lady‘s behavior was unacceptable, even tho the KQ gate agent should‘ve remained professional and calm to not provoke the situation. On the other hand, the airport authorities should‘ve intervened as she threw those pads at her and could‘ve been a possible threat for the flight crew and all souls on board that aircraft.
So I meant with revised, that they should‘ve intervened faster and probably get the training that they would‘ve needed to handle those situations.

Sounds like a typical kenyan lie. 'sanitary pads' is a crazy enough explanation to go 'maybe she deserved it'

The Nigerian passenger is very wrong for being rude and throwing the pads at KQ staff but guys lets be honest. KQ could have handled the situation before escalating to this level.
The moment she asked for pads, they could have directed her to the helpdesk, probably the would direct her on where to buy them or even provided them for free.
Why didn't they communicate this information before the passenger paid from Nigeria. If she did not have a EU visa, why give her an option for traveling via Paris? Greed maybe?
Also if you travel and are stranded at an airport for 18 hours, the least an airline could do would just give her some damn accomodation. Long term it would be better for their PR.
If they sensed the situation escalating and the help desk not in a position to help, immigration officials would have done a better job. Just call them
The passenger gets 2/10 for being rude and throwing pads.
KQ gets 1/10 for poor communication, greed, poor customer service, not calling for help early enough, not de escalating the situation and always being in debt dammit. All those flights and never being profitable is corruption
