What would be the ramifications if Mexico helped The Union during the American Civil War?

Mexico was occupied by France during the American civil war. They were not in a position to join someone else’s war.

I dont see that happening. Mexico was not our ally and we literally just stole all their northern territory after crushing them in 1848. They wouldn't have been much help and probably would at least think that a divided USA was in their best interest.

I like AlternateHistoryHub’s “What if Texas remained independent” scenario where Cody says that they’d probably join the CSA, resulting in Mexico getting involved.
Realistically, there has to be no French invasion, otherwise Mexico cant do anything about it.
The Union would reward Mexico by giving back some of its land, as well has some war reparations.
