You know, just a simple shirt, yoga pants and cozy shoes. I wish it were acceptable in Germany to dress like that without getting side eyes. I hate walking around in uncomfortable clothes all day.

pro tip: comfy clothes which do not look like you just woke up and didnt put in any effort. they do exist.

also in big cities in germany most people dont look formal... sweat pants are everywhere.

are we living in the same germany tho? when i go outside, its rare to even see a single person, not wearing sweatpants and dirty adidas sneaker for the males as they dont even give a shit about clothing and just want to look as ''assozial'' as possible, while the girls on the other side seem to not even own a single comfortable clothing piece and run around overdressed as if they are on their way to the next pole dance night club. its utterly bizzare.

what?? I'm Canadian and wear capris, t-shirts and a large hoodie. I didn't know that it wasn't normal elsewhere

Lol I can't believe there's already a few comments railing against casual comfy outfits being more or less acceptable in many public spaces in the USA.

What's the problem? It's not like everyone does it. I would think that it would only elevate the experience of dressing up. It's nice to have the choice to put in effort rather than an obligation.

I like the variety. Even beyond casual and dressy options. When I lived in a college town that's well known for its theatre culture, I always thought it was kinda neat that the occasional person in full theatrical costume could often be spotted doing normal, everyday stuff among the crowds.

Wear what you like. There will always be people who decry comfortable casual wear as "slobbish" or "low class" or "looking like you don't put any effort in." Luckily for the world, nobody is obligated to give a fuck about those nerds and their nerd opinions. Nobody gets to tell you how you should dress. Screw their judgemental glances and silent disapproval, anyone who wants to whine about it is more than free to fuck right off.

Most of my classy/business outfits are actually more comfortable than wearing jeans and if they weren't expensive pieces of clothing, I'd wear some of them as PJs

I wish I could afford to dress up more, but my least favorite genre of European criticism of the US is "you need to spend more money."

Clothing norms are made up anyways. The most absurd one being the suit. Always some dumbass abstract meanings and cues behind what someone wears.

Agreed. Comfort should be prioritized.

In fact, no matter what I may think about John Fetterman’s politics, wearing a hoodie in the Senate takes balls.

I respect that. Casual wear is so underrated.

I'll tell you what's even better though: jeans, boots, and a flannel shirt. Still casual, but more rugged and slightly more refined.

I can't even fully describe how comfortable denim and flannel are. Kinda loose, kinda not. A good pair of jeans and a good flannel shirt always seem to be loose in the places they need to be and tight in the other places they need to be. Form fitting but also not form fitting. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
