Bricks can be traded freely and used for any number of purposes within the community. At this time, they can be used to display reputation within the subreddit, unlock exclusive features like badges and GIFs in comments with a Special Membership, and add weight to votes in polls.

Within Reddit, think of them like Karma+. You get a bricks based on the quality of the content, but then you can use the Bricks you earn to be a memeber, vote in polls, or tip others for their content.
So for example of a usecase, a poll now is simply 1 account = 1 vote. However now polls can be weighted with bricks meaning more bricks = more 'votes' in a poll. This gives a nice benefit in that it gives more value to those who add meaningful content to a sub, as well as makes it harder for a group to spam multiple alt accounts and sway the poll results.
In an Ethereum context, the short of it is Bricks essentially become their own cryptocurrency. Your bricks are literally owned by you. Reddit has no power to reset balances or take away your bricks, where as if Reddit wanted to they could erase everyone's Karma tomorrow. Or they can target you and drain your account's Karma for any reason they please.
You will also eventually be able to use your bricks on the blockchain as well. Ethereum has a pretty robust blockchain system that opens up hundreds of possiblities. In theory, its entirely possible you can transfer your Bricks and get in game currency rewards or in game content directly from Epic.
At risk of sounding like a shill, I'll limit my examples there, but it is really a cool feature and we are only at the tip of the iceburg
