from the original poster:
A lot of people are misinterpreting this tweet, no logging into your account at your friends house won’t get you banned.
Its when your IP logs into multiple accounts that all come from different parts of the world that it gets suspicious.
If you don't buy/sell or share your account, you have NOTHING to worry about. Traveling/moving out does NOT flag your account.
Also just to make something clear, this is NOT new. They've been doing this a few times every year.

Eh, so if you're traveling and log in from somewhere else, you get flagged? There's gotta be more to it.

You know a better way to get people to stop selling accounts is to stop Cosmetic exclusivity.

Supposedly this is nothing new , this is something they have regularly been doing for awhile, I don't think anything is gonna happen (nothing ever happens)
Also, even if they are enforcing this *more often* then it's really weird that they unbanned all cheaters (and we all know why they did, so they can give epic money once again)
If this is really about account selling, then there would be legitimate ways to get old battlepass cosmetics (which there isn't, which then creates a black market for them)
Or maybe they *will* bring back old cosmetics, and this is a way to ensure that they are the only ones allowed to sell said skins (no competition with a third party)

How could they possibly prove you aren’t just idk gaming in different spots because you’re homeless or something? I play on switch so I literally could be anywhere, glad I don’t play fortnite anymore

I call bs. IPs change all the time, if anything they would check the hardware ID first.

Y'all acting like if you logged into a friend's Xbox one time in 2023 you're gonna get banned. They are looking at accounts that are consistently logging into different places rapidly all the time. They obviously know the difference between Timmy going to hang out with his friend a few times a week versus Jimmy who is letting his friend play on his account every day for the last 2 years as the account is bouncing between multiple ip addresses multiple times daily or accounts that were very clearly sold.

they should worry more about cheaters than account sharing/selling

This is sketchy. I play using Cloud Gaming at work and multiple other places, aswell as using my Xbox at a couple of houses for LAN party type situations. The perfect storm for my shit to get banned for no reason.

Why is everyone assuming this is going to ban people who play on their device in different places? You seriously think Epic would risk banning basically every mobile player? This likely only applies if they see a bunch of accounts logging into the same ip & device. You aren’t getting banned for playing at the airport. You aren’t getting banned if your sibling plays on their own account on the same WiFi, and you really shouldn’t log into Fortnite on a device you don’t own or share your account with anyone anyway.

If they did this then they might as well go ahead and ban every Fortnite mobile player out there cuz cell phone ip addresses change when you switch from Tower to Tower.
And on top of that they might as well go ahead and ban everybody who's not on a static IP. So if you're with an ISP that has a dynamic IP address system then you're at risk of getting banned.
I don't see this being real.

Lmao just kill the old ass outdated artificial exclusivity for cartoons model already…Epic executives hate this one weird trick that would end account selling forever
