I'm a big fan of What We Do in the Shadows (both the show and the movie) as well as both incarnations of Being Human.

I like the ensemble casts and"found family" dynamic of the shows I mentioned as well as the amusing juxtaposition of monstrous and magical problems with everyday matters like paying rent, riding the subway, and the normal tumult of friend groups changing over time.

Are there any books that capture that kind of houseshare dynamic? Most urban fantasy I've read tends to focus on one main character that lives alone.

This is hard! The closest I can think of:

Not quite roommates but in the Innkeeper Chronicles[1] a big part of the story is taking care of guests. And there is a permanent guest that kind of feels like a roommate at times.

In Blood Trails[2] the MC has a familiar that acts more like an annoying little sister than anything else. And they live together so they got that vibes at times.

Amplifier[3] is more rural than urban, but the MC lives in a big house with her adopted brother. It's not a big part of the story tho, not much roommate vibes. But technically the one that fits the request the most.

In Dr. Greta Helsing[4], the MC ends up living with a vampire temporary. (that goes across multiple books iirc) (and he's an amazing host). It's a pity that these stories is always the MC getting into trouble and not her just.. doing her doctor job. Which I found incredible interesting.

Valkyrie Bestiary[5] doesn't count AT ALL, unless you count her hoard of magical and monstrous pets as roommates. (which is actually part of the story, and is quite funny at times. Her job is to relocate pests, and she refuse to kill them. So the ones she cant rehome.. she keeps)

Garrett, P.I. by Glen Cook! The main character lives with an undead telepathic monster and, over the course of the series, develops a super fun found family including a haunted painting, a ratwoman, and a half-elf restaurant owner

Not room mates but the work place. Terry Pratchett's the Truth has humans, dwarves and a vampire working at a newspaper.

Not a book, but a podcast: the Trinyvale arc of Not Another D&D Podcast. Three goofballs (an aasimar warlock, an elven sword dancer and a half-elf half-gorilla hunter) share an apartment in the big city and work as adventurers. It’s a running joke that they frequently acquire new roommates.

I feel like Super Powereds by Drew Hayes might work for you.

Maybe the Black Dog series by Rachel Neumeier: a group of warewolves living together in a big house, found family dynamics.

Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw is a little like this

Urban fantasy - main character is a doctor to supernatural beings

Her area of specialty is mummies and she really wants a 3D printer for her practice so that she can print out any bones for her patients whose bones are brittle and crumbling

Not exactly a roommate situation, but there are snarky vampires and morose, sickly demons
