Will it be unacceptable to make a self post that then links to an image? Since at that point you are only posting to share, and not to gain karma.

I'm guessing the goal of the "self post only" rule is to stop the posting of crappy articles and other useless things and to encourage more discussion on the games?

Great change! The shitposting after the fo4 announcement had kinda turned me off this sub for the last few months, this should help a lot.

I wish there was an option to disable karma without that switch..

Having to open a post to click a link, then switch to a tab with that link, then switch back for discussion is a bit annoying compared to just middle clicking link then "comments" button. Or is there a RES option for it ?

[Perception 8]Is this another one of Vault-Tec's experiments on us Vault Dwellers?

I don't understand humanity. The same people who upvoted all the shitposts are upvoting this.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this will increase general quality of this sub, although it wasn't so horrible before either though. This sub is pretty cool relatively to most subs.

Oh boy, time to open every post to see if there's an image inside.

Fantastic move guys. We made the same decision over at /r/skyrimmods. The transition got us a few complaints, but we've gotten a lot more subs. Turns out people want content!

I whole heartily disagree with this change, Me and most people I know use Reddit is a news source and discussing said news and subreddits allow you to get specific news about specific interests you share with others. This is just gonna turn the subreddit into any old text based forum that we already have 50,000 different versions of.

Ultimately It's the mods' decision of course but it would be quite sad to see my current favorite subreddit vanish into nothingness.

This definitely seems like the kind of thing that should have been put to a vote and, if the vote was for this change, then voted on again in a week. Doing it the way it was done here seems to point towards the mods steering a sub in a certain direction instead of the readers.

This is probably a stupid question and if so I apologize, but what about when, say, some new footage comes out? Are we supposed to put a link in a text post as apposed to linking directly?

The thing is that there are no more previews in the posts. I understand the reasoning but still not a big fan of the change.. :(

I think this is the type of change that needs to be tentative. I agree it's good now, but after the release of FO4 it would be nice to have image/link posts brought back.

Is there a reason we can't just use filters?

I'm good with not reading this subreddit anymore, I don't come to a gaming subreddit to read through a bunch of people's text, I come to look at gameplay, read comments, and get news.

Sorry but this subreddit style is horrid, and will not be beneficial to anyone who looks at this subreddit and is interested in seeing actual content.

I'm not willing to click twice because of your choice to attempt to protect people from spamming content for "internet points", who cares about Karma.

This is a waste of a perfectly good subreddit now.

So instead of moderating the link posts you just get rid of them altogether?
