The Heritage Foundation is. Trump doesn't realize it (he's too stupid) but their plans extend far past him. The have 4 years to use him as a vessel to enact change that'll last decades.

Decades? Try generations. By the time Trump leaves office a decent percentage of the voting population won't have ever seen sane politics. There will be a handful of civil servants, "the old guys" who will tell tales of when they were able to do their job without political purges/loyalty pledges. The courts will have zero legitimacy. And there's no easy way to walk that back.

God thank you. I’ve been trying to explain this to everyone. He’s the face with the cult following. He needed someone to bail him out of trouble, which they did, and now they own him. They can put anything in front of him and he’ll sign it. But it’s not *him* making these decisions.

Exactly this. I don’t think Trump cares about the policy he just wants to be that guy. He likes what comes with being the face of something powerful

To paraphrase Arthur C. Clarke’s quote about the possibility of extraterrestrial life in the universe:

“Two possibilities exist: either Trump is a buffoon or he knows exactly what he’s doing.  Both are equally terrifying.”

He absolutely knows what he’s doing. Discrediting him is dangerous
