it should be permanent for EOD and a $20 "dlc" to buy for standard editions

It would be the fairest way to do things, and I think it would make the base version of the game much more attractive to many new players, who will buy it + the offline mode. That would be a much better way to try and earn money than to try and squeeze existing players!
