View submission: Pedestrian Etiquette and Pathway Use in Edinburgh

Long story short; ram through them. I've nearly got hit too many times by stepping onto the road to avoid an oncoming group.

The harder question is: what is the protocol if the group is heading the same direction as you? Say they're in front of you, walking incredibly slow and taking up the whole pavement, and you just can't walk past. It's a bit harder to walk through from behind.

Slow walkers are always oblivous to being a problem. They're the same people that spend 5 minutes at a cash machine treating it like they're trying solve a Rubik's cube and then act shocked that there is a queue of people behind them.

I say loudly, "sorry there," as a warning, when it's time to overtake I say again loudly "excuse me," and if they still don't move, it's barging time. If they seem particularly obnoxious I'll overtake them and then stop right in front of them, forcing them to change pace/direction, how's it feel?
