As you file your taxes between now and April, keep in mind as of last tax season an opt in box was added for a TABOR refund. You have to check the box to elect to receive your TABOR refund. If you do not check the box the refund will not be issued and the state will keep that money. I know there's different views on TABOR politically so you do you on whether you want it or not, just a friendly reminder of this change.

There is no check box.
You don’t ‘opt in.’ There is no flat rate like last year.
It’s a portion of the calculations where you have to determine how much you’re owed. It’s part of page six.

Hmm wonder if I did that in freetaxusa software?
Also there was a form it said i needed to sign and mail in at the end. Or rather it said I was all done and offered up a form for me, but didn’t give instructions. Anyone know if that is necessary?

The fact that getting the money you are legally owed by the state is an easily missed single opt-in tells you everything you need to know about the intent here.
Making it an opt-out would make this a non-issue.

Seems to this would be by design, we all know the state has a deficient. Love or Hate Tabor stealing is still stealing.
