With the Kiwis, it’s always the hopes that kills.
Outside of the WTC mace, I was so excited for them in 2015 WC & 2019 WC (still such a BS way to lose that) & 2021… now with the CT, they were playing so well but alas, just not meant to be…again.

24 wins out of 25 in ICC events is a staggering statistic. Deserved tournament win this for them. Just a great moment for Rahul - properly buried the ghosts of the World Cup final probably now.

Optimal result for Rachin Ravindra's grandfather.
His grandson won the Player of the Tournament. But India won the tournament

Very happy for KL and Iyer, finally some silverware for them (remember they weren't part of the 2024 T20 WC win). I think both players finally came of age over the course of this tournament. Seeing KL finish two high stakes matches is refreshing; he really really needed this and the confidence this would bring.
Also, sending Axar at 5 has been an inspired move, somehow it has done wonders. He has suddenly emerged as a true all format player to look out for.

Insane that India is so deep that now they can win finals even when Kohli doesn't contribute anything with the bat.

Kohli realized mid-sentence that he almost accidentally announced his retirement and had to clarify

A word of praise for NZ who keep showing up at all tournaments, playing their hearts out and making the opposition work hard for a win.
That being said, immense pressure on India in every competition and good to see them win an ODI tournament...this ODI team is very well balanced and it shows in the results...
