View submission: Adults taking driver's training
I've said for years that drivers should be required to pass a refresher test every 8 years or so. The state would get revenue for the testing fee and we would hopefully have more informed drivers on the road.

Or, instead of an additional fee that would make it harder for low income people to drive to their jobs, make the test free and the state would still save even more tax money on accident cleanup, cost avoidance of thousands of people sitting in traffic, property damage, and medical expenses with the reduction in number and severity of accidents.

It's not a matter of knowledge, it's a matter of willful non-compliance. Everyone will "drive right" for their test, and then just go back to driving like an asshole. I shouldn't have to take time out of my day to schedule going for a drive with the bmv, which is already the worst place in the world to need to do anything. This is a policing problem, but doesn't anyone really want the days of police pulling people over just because they felt like to come back? If you're a defensive driver and show courtesy, you'll avoid most accidents. My hope is the bad drivers won't be able to afford cars or insurance and the problem will just fix itself.

I don't disagree but at the same time we don't even have annual vehicle inspections here, which I'd argue is just as if not more important.
