The way the state determines funding has changed, and now the county is receiving about 10 million less than they would otherwise

I’m not sure about the exact details, but I believe it has to do with Albemarle county crossing a property value threshold last year that resulted in the state pulling $10 million in funding. Albemarle has to either increase property taxes, or make significant cuts. Last year, we had a position eliminated in English, history, math, AND science at AHS due to this. Cuts like this will keep happening each year unless we increase local property tax rates to fund education.
