A fantastic shop back in the day. Sadly not actually making a resurgence but the shop thats been there since woollies closed is not that dissimilar..... still made me nostalgic.

A Savers, a derelict Woolworths and a betting shop. A pretty good representation of the British high st in 2025.

There was an empty blockbusters near me until recently. Council finally made them repaint the store front, but it's still empty.

The one in Holyhead still has the full sign on the back.

I smell Pokémon cards when I think of Woolworths. Spent many years of my childhood begging my parents to get me some every time we went here 😂

Sometimes i feel left out for not having these nice lovely childhood memories of Woolworths. It was just a shop that we went to sometimes. No different to a lot of other places and the pick n mix was no difference to loads of other places we went to.

Blockbuster, on the other hand, now that's a different story. We'd go down there after I finished school on a Friday sometimes because I had a couple friends staying over. We'd get a film, playstation game and a big bag of sweets, then head over to KFC across the road and mum would get us a bargain bucket to take home. Me and my mates would fill up on chicken and sugar while watching the film (The Mummy is a prime example of the kind of thing we'd get) before smashing out a few games on the PlayStation until we were all nodding off. Then we'd be up at 5am to pick up where we left off. Good times.

OMG. Every high street picture just shows that the buildings need a bloody good power wash to get rid of all the car exhaust and coal and dirt that makes these pictures extra fucking depressing. The U.S. puts filters on Mexico when they film it to make it look less appealing...This black shit is our natural state, don't need a filter.

A good jet wash would really make a difference to these buildings

Huh, what a weird coincidence, the town where I grew up, the old Woolies also became a Yorkshire trading company (Sleaford, Lincolnshire)

My dad found an old Woolworths that was still open, years ago, in New York. Somehow he walked out of there carrying two used Lee Enfield 303's... Apparently, some Woolworths in the US, had a gun department.

Sad this picture says a lot about the British high street. So many town centre full of empty units next to betting shops.

I love how I recognised that as Skipton straight away and it brought back some memories of Saturday mornings looking round there

I live in Germany now and they have Woolworths (well, Woolworth) and it's shit. It definitely doesn't have the same appeal as the ones we used to have. No pick and mix either.

Apparently woolworths is still a thing In Australia, but not as good as it used to be.
