Still traumatised from when she nearly died in a chip pan fire. For some reason chip pan fires featured heavily in safety stuff for kids back then. I grew up assuming it'd be the most likely way I'd die

This was before the oven chip really took off, so chip pans were a regular thing.

I think kitchen oil fires are less common now because so many people were scared off cooking with a pan of oil as kids.

My daughter was so traumatised by that episode and they kept repeating it. It wasn’t even called “fire “ or anything helpful so I never realised it was the scary one until it was too late. Top tip: it was called “useful holes” or something close to that, if you need to avoid it.

A chip pan fire, whilst trying to get a frisbee from some overhead electrical cables, then sinking into quicksand after not looking both ways crossing the street.

I always thought that's what caused the Weston super-mare pier to burn down, apparently not though.

That episode traumatised me too. Didn't help that my mum was terrible at cooking and kept accidentally starting chip pan fires!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who still members this viscerally!

I thought I'd get stuck in quicksand…. Have yet to find any.
