Alright so I don’t know how to explain this very well, but it seems like when someone tells me a certain thing will happen, and I SPECIFICALLY get excited for it, it goes to shit or never happens at all, like for example my friends say we’re going out to [place] I get excited and it never happens, and I’m 100% sure this isn’t coincidental because I’ve felt like this for the longest I can remember.

Maybe a witch has cursed you. Jk

A dispassionate outlook to things beyond your control while actively investing in your life goals will cure your jinx.

One of my favorite experiments conducted was a research on luck. Basically a bunch of people were asked if they considered themselves lucky or not before being told to have a seat and wait for the experiment to begin. While they waited they were given a newspaper to read while waiting. In the newspaper there was an ad that basically was like twll the instructor you saw this and earn money.

Turns out a majority of the people that considered themselves lucky did whatever was asked to win the reward while many that saw themselves as unlucky either missed the ad or didn't believe it so they never did the action.

Basically the research suggested that luck was more about perception than anything else or that we make our own luck by how we view ourselves and our surroundings.

You got to scroll a bit but this article talks about the test done.

I used to go through this and then I realized it was because I was making plans with someone who considered me a placeholder until they found better plans (not saying that’s your case tho)

My life is normally very lucky.

But in 2023 there was a 2 month period where every few days something broke in our house. The handle fell off the oven. Our tv developed a warped/melted spot in the screen. We discovered our tub had leaked into the floor and the floor and side of the house were rotted.

It just felt like disaster after disaster.

Jinxing is just you. It's like having a fear you're going to trip over the front step. So you trip over the front step.

I used to think that if I told someone about something before I did it, it would jinx it. There were so many times when that happened that I grew to believe it. Still do. I only tell people things beforehand if I don't care one way or the other.
