View submission: What are you doing right now?

Winding down for the night. It's been stressful. My husband was supposed to go in Wednesday to start chemo to kill everything in 4 days and get a bone marrow transplant. One or all 3 kids have been sick one way or another for almost 4 weeks, and I'm the only one who can care for them while constantly cleaning and making sure he's not going to get sick. Made it almost a month before he got the flu today, no more transplant, another delay like usual. I'm so mentally exhausted, and the hard part for either of us hasn't even started. Oh, and I sent him off to the ER cause he has no platelets and wouldn't stop bleeding. After waiting 3 hours, he wasn't happy and came back home to deal with it himself. It's not like he just has flu symptoms, he has blood cancer, bone marrow failure, has had over 300 blood and platelet transfusions and was literally two days away from starting the transplant procedure, has no immune system because of 63 injections into his stomach to help his blood cancer lower so he can get a transplant.... but okay...

To quote the movie Holes- "I'm getting tired of this grandpa!"

Hey! Being a parent is hard. Having kids playing musical chairs of sickness is hard. Trying to keep a house in order is hard. Not being able to slip up and be a person taking care of yourself first for even five minutes is hard. Taking care of a sick spouse is hard. I would bet you even think of all the stuff you have to do for your family while you shower. You ARE in the hard part right now. It’s all hard. Your spouse having cancer and needing treatment doesn’t make all the other stuff any less hard. You’re doing so so many hard things and they’re all happening at once. And you’re doing amazing. And in case you’re not proud of yourself for all of it, I am so proud of you. Thank you for everything that you’re doing.

Username checks out. In all seriousness, life gets overwhelming from time to time and I sincerely hope everyone in your family does well! It must be very stressful for each one of you.

Hey, I wanted to reach out because you are not alone. Your story is almost the exact same we are going through down to my daughter getting the flu last week and my other daughter on antibiotics. My father in law chemo has been delayed a lot due to his platelet count. I’m so sorry you all are going through this.
