The kid's sleeping, I'm watching a horror movie on my laptop, my husband is listening to an audiobook, and the cat has managed to wedge herself between our bodies and is purring like a locomotive. I'm drinking a can of a nice craft Imperial Porter, my husband is drinking a small whiskey and coke. It's cold outside but we are warm and have everything we beed. In this moment everything is perfect.
When was the last time you felt content, fulfilled, just happy, without it being any kind of celebration or extraordinary situation?

A year and a half ago I was in a hot tub in the Oregon mountains. I'd made a cake and had a slice of it. Very slightly stoned. I was eating cake in a hot tub, watching the clouds go by. No kids to worry about (they were at home with the husband). No spouse to worry about. Nobody I had to do anything for. Honestly, this was one of the best moments I'd have in a long long time.

Nursing my toddler to sleep and then he snores on my breast. It's a pillow. I am warm furniture. I can't move.

Got home after work, all my chores were done already. Showered. Hydrated. Fell asleep and woke up a few hours later. One of my cats was cuddled next to me. The other cat was sleeping on top of me.
It was so peaceful. Someone , something, actually loves me :’) fell asleep after a few minutes and it was morning again.

Honestly, my moment of perfect happiness is stumbling upon this post and realizing people still have the audacity to share cozy little moments like this. But seriously, my perfect happiness? It's sipping on a spicy margarita while scrolling through Twitter, roasting people who think pineapple belongs on pizza, and realizing that in this chaotic world, I’m right and they’re wrong. Bliss.
