That’s been my issue as well. Never once downloaded or felt like I was missing out. It’s a data collecting/selling and propaganda company more than a lighthearted, silly dancing with your friends or grandma app. People can’t see that or don’t care.

probably because our data was and will never be safe to begin with. every few months there’s a new “security risk” involving our data (ssn’s, passwords, banking info, etc). if you really think ppl are ignorant of the data collection, you should listen to what they are saying. nobody cares that tik tok collects data, they acknowledge it and accept it bc they simply want to watch fun videos.

On top of that it just encourages people to sit on the couch and scroll forever, or get enraged and make posts about things that don't matter.

Nothing in between. You're either a hyperuser or a doomscroller or you just see some trash on reddit sometimes.

I don't get the people who got worked up about the ban. Banning the thing does not harm freedom of expression etc. Because there are a ton of other internet spaces where you can share just about any video you make with the world. They could take their tiktok vids and post them on Youtube or any other such service, freedom of expression remains intact.
