View submission: Anyone else not ever use TikTok whatsoever?

I used it for about a year. I enjoyed it quite a bit once I fine tuned my preferences, got a lot of creative ideas and found sub groups I really enjoyed. But I eventually quit because it was just TOO good at attracting my attention. Plus, I’d find myself all worked up about TikTok dramas that had no real impact on my own life. It was just too damn addictive. Deleted everything 3 years ago and I don’t miss it.

My story is similar. Pandemic got me hooked and then my husband pointed out that I have a problem so I realized he was right. I have noticed through commentary of others that TikTok has become mostly an app that is designed to sell shit now. Im not at all interested. Im addicted to reddit now lol

Same timeline for me, and I found myself losing hours without realizing it.

However, that "modern warrior" dude rubbed me so wrong. I saw the support he had and couldn't seem to escape content with him so I just deleted the app.

Thanks weird racist cheater native dude for saving me from a tiktok addiction!

If only the rest of us could find the strength you apparently have. Kudos to you!

Yep, that was my problem. The shortform video served algorithmically things are too much. I keep tiktok un-installed and use YouTube on Firefox so I can block the shorts with unlock. I re-download Instagram once in a blue moon and usually just spend like 2h watching these two particular creators (don't remember their names but they're a couple who have hilarious stories about parenting their small children and have big sleep deprived energy) and then delete it again

Exactly. The only right answer here (that many redditors do not like) is that the only problem with Tik tok is that it’s kind of too good..

This works on Instagram too. I really think I'll have to delete the app from both devices. But since it has some of the best content for three of my hobbies I just can't do it.

This is my experience too. I deleted it because I couldn’t pull myself away from all of the meaningless content

It's easy to get lost in the drama and content without it really adding anything valuable.

Very accurate to my own experience: I went semi-viral from a single post in 2020 and enjoyed the attention fix, never really got that many views on a video again, slowly lost interest in making videos, and just kinda aged out of the rest of the app. I don't think I opened it on my own for at least a year before I went on to delete my account before a potential ban
