View submission: What’s the weirdest “unwritten rule” everyone just follows?
“good morning” is short for “i wish you a good morning” acknowledging a persons presence/arrival in good faith, similar to hello.
Similar: “goodbye” is short for “God be with you”, conveys a wish for divine protection, guidance, or blessings upon someone as they depart. It reflects a sentiment of care, goodwill, and hope for safety, particularly in times when travel or separation was more dangerous or uncertain.
There's nothing here!
