Tested positive for COVID on Sunday, symptoms started the day before. COVID symptoms are mild, slight cough, a little weazy yesterday but now breathing is fine. But last night I woke up with extreme neck pain, some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced, more than dislocated shoulder and broken bones. With paracetamol and ibuprofen after about 4 hours it got a better to the point I wasn’t in agony on the floor anymore.

I’ve read the muscle aches are a symptom but has anyone heard of such severe (muscle?) pain connected to COVID. Or is it more likely just an unhappy coincidence that I get this neck thing at the same time as I’m down with COVID.

I’m 34/m generally very fit and healthy, been a bit run down of late after moving house and countries.

I had COVID back in August and had neck pain too! Mine wasn't as severe as yours, but for about 3-4 days, I had this pain in my neck, sort of like I slept on it wrong. I had no other aches and pains, only the neck pain. Ibuprofen also did the trick for me.

I had neck pain. Found out we have long lymph nodes where my pain was situated. I figured I'm the pain was due to enflamed nodes.

I not only had severe neck pains but my entire body especially my lower back and quads were incredibly achy. It felt as though I’ve been beaten up. It was so uncomfortable I couldn’t get into any position that would ease the discomfort. Finally I took an strong ibuprofen+something else (made for menstrual cramps) and the pain went away.

Here is my hypothesis..... Because your breathing is obstructed, you sleep funny to accommodate. This creates a muscle strain in your neck. I suffer from this chronically (prior to COVID). If I can make a suggestion, make sure your neck is comfortably supported when you go to sleep. I'm really sorry that you are experiencing this pain, it is truly debilitating and horrible. Aspirin (obviously w/ ok from your doc) and heating compress are helpful.

AHHHH I am struggling with really bad neck pain right now. Its been bugging me for ~ 6 days but today is way worse that before. I don't have any other symptoms of anything though so I wasn't thinking it was covid related.
