Blessings All,
I have a VISA question. I will be ordaining as a monk come May in Thailand and I am currently working on acquiring a VISA. I have considered applying for the Non-immigrant Type R-A which will give me a year duration. However, I have been having trouble getting in contact with someone of authority to provide me with a letter of approval. Has anyone gone through a similar situation and if there are suggestions - for VISA or otherwise. Thank you.

You haven't mentioned what country you want a visa for.
If you have already contacted a monastery for ordination, they can help you. If you haven't, you should look for one when you are there. Make sure you discuss everything with the abbot, and have all the requirements ready by the time you wish to ordain.
Most large meditation centres in Asia have an office that will give you information on obtaining a visa and issue letters of authority for this purpose. Therefore, joining such a meditation retreat may be a good starting point for you. Some of them let you ordain, and in any case, they can recommend a place where you can ordain.
