Can anyone tell me who this statue represents please? It was bought as Tara but image search’s return different results every time time with just about every Buddhist deity covered so far!

It looks like Chenrezig/Avalokiteshvara, Buddha of Compassion.
The central hands hold the wish-granting jewel, simbolizing universal compassion and the inner potential for all beings to awaken (Buddha Nature). The right hand holds prayer beads, to chant mantras and benefit all beings, and the left hand holds a lotus, representing purity of the mind and wisdom.
The four arms can symbolize the four directions (compassion is a boundless state; it reaches everywhere) or the four brahmavihara meditations/divine abidings (1. metta/love: wishing happiness and well-being for others; 2. karuna/compassion: wishing for others to be released from suffering; 3. mudita/empathetic joy: getting joy in the happiness of others; 4. upekka/equanimity: the impartiality to see all beings as equally deserving of compassion).

Thank you for such an informative answer - do you have any idea why it might have been incorrectly identified as Tara by the place I bought it freon? Is it just that the figures are visually similar or do they share certain features which makes them easily misidentified perhaps?
