Might be your personal preference, but in some Buddhist schools meat products play an important role. For instance for tsok jn Vajrayana. I think the offering of fish is heartfelt and a tribute to the kitties and all beings, including the mackerel (a blessing for them for sure). Like you, my offerings are generally fruit, nuts and biscuits, and not meat, but I realise each of us has different motivations.

Ah, good to know. I disagree with that practice (one of the disagreements I have with Buddhism in general). This is my opinion: I don’t think meat should be offered
