hi everyone, I found this drawing in an old monk’s house that was built inside of a cave in Chiang Dao, Thailand. Can anyone explain the meaning of it and what it was used for? It was in a little room that served as both meditation room and kitchen it seems.

Hello, this is a Yantra used an astrological and meditation tool, however, this yantra is written in the Tai Tham script in which I cannot read! I can translate Khmer Khom yantra. What I can tell you, is that it represents a Buddha’s Maṇḍala, with the Arahants surrounding the Bīja syllable seed located in the middle ‘Na.’ However, there are some Khmer Khom syllables I can spot, but the quality of the picture is not so clear.

It appears to be a wheel of dharma with 8 spokes representing the Noble Eightfold Path. On closer inspection the 8 spokes are actually 4 bars intersecting so perhaps those are the 4 Noble Truths. It's clever that they found a way to show the Eightfold Path and 4 Noble Truths as part of one whole, unified structure. The way I perceive it is that the 4 bars are laid on top of one another like sticks.
