I’m a 27-year-old male with no kids or partner. I was born in Brazil but grew up in the UK, so I have dual citizenship. I’m fluent in Portuguese, though I have an accent. I currently work remotely, earning £40,000 per year, with the option to work overtime at double my hourly rate (roughly £41 per hour). I’ve calculated that working an extra four hours every Saturday would cover nearly all my expenses, allowing me to save my full salary.
Right now, I’m living with family in São Paulo, but I plan to move to Florianópolis. I’m into fitness, go to the gym regularly, and want to start training in Muay Thai. Ideally, I’d like to live in an area where everything—gym, grocery stores, restaurants, and other essentials—is within walking distance.
I’ve seen some people online recommend Praia dos Ingleses, but I’m open to other areas. My budget for rent is around R$4,500. Given my lifestyle and preferences, where would be the best place to live in Florianópolis for someone in my situation ?

I’m a Florianópolis native. The thing about here is that due to being an island with difficult terrain, a lot of the neighborhoods are a little bit far from the more urbanized areas. But that also means that most of the neighborhoods are relatively good to live in, with most of the commodities you need.
If you like the beaches, they are more chill areas most of the year, except for the summer of course where it gets really crowded. They are usually some of the farthest areas though, so you would pretty much spend most of your time there.
IMO the best places to live here are the most central areas where not only you would have more commodities around you but you would also be in a better position to move around the island.
Consider Downtown, Coqueiros, Agronômica, Trindade, Santa Monica and since you work remotely, Campinas and Kobrasol, both of these in São José, closer to Florianópolis downtown than any of the beaches.
You have a great budget that would allow you to live in a great place in any of the areas. I live in Campinas in a good 2 bedroom for 2500 rent + 800 condominium charge.

fellow Florianópolis native and signed off on everything r/vicods said.
I don't really recommend Ingleses OP; I find it a great place to weekend or vacation (I have family there, it's lovely to spend a quick weekend with them and just walk on over to the beach) but I feel it is SO isolated from everything else. It can also feel especially insufferable during summer vacation (most of the island does, but Ingleses gets super invaded by tourists!).
I recommend the neighborhoods vicods listed; you can still drive or take any of the buses (regulars or amarelinhos) to the beaches.
