I am hoping to spend 2 more months in Brazil. Already spent 1 in Rio. Where would you recommend? I'm thinking maybe BH, Salvador or Recife but am open to suggestions! The only thing I don't want is to go south of Rio. Thanks Obrigado!

João Pessoa in Paraíba. Beautiful city and you will enter another Brazil in cultural terms. There are excellent cities in the northeast. For anyone who wants to have a cultural experience, I would recommend it.
Not to mention that you will have access to the most wonderful beaches in the country.
Bahia is also beautiful, Arraial d’ajuda is close to Porto Seguro, a beautiful place.

Florianópolis, Balneário Camboriú, Itajaí - Any of those give you safety and fun, the best combo you could ask for.

There are good cities in Rio de Janeiro, DONT GO TO SALVADOR CITY, is very bad, RIO DE JANEIRO CITY is beautiful but dangerous AND São Paulo City is huge but its not beautiful, theres only buildings, concret, bad air quality, polution etc, You can go to Região dos Lagos and Ilha Grande in Rio de Janeiro district good and safe cities, many cities in these regions, and You can go to South of Brasil Blumenau, Florianópolis,Porto Alegre, Balneário Camboriu, Curitiba, Joinville, Gramado very good at all In São Paulo district in Santos, Ilha Bela, Ubatuba etc, If you are rich can go to Fernando de Noronha or Bonito in Mato Grosso district many good places and much more safe than Rio, Salvador and São Paulo cities
