It's snowy outside and I'm worried about driving to school in the morning. A lot of the time it's not as bad on the main roads after some time with cars melting the snow, but do y'all know how bad the snow is in the Nampa area?

Its only bad when it gets packed down by cars. When you get some clearance before you hit traffic hit your breaks and learn how your car slides and how long it takes to stop. Just apply that to the space you need between cars and stops. Guys in big trucks who tail gate you can FO i grew up here and am fine in the snow but i can tell you right now the only dangerous thing about it is dudes who cant fathom that not all cars handle the snow as well as daddys pickup. On a side note youll notice theyre the ones usually getting towed out of a ditch. Be safe, if you cant do it. Dont. But take time to do some rounds in this stuff so youre prepared

If you have to go, go slow and careful, and hope you don't meet someone who isn't slow, or careful. That's really all we can do.
Learn to drive in this. 4WD/AWD helps you go, it doesn't do shit to help you turn, or stop.
Get good tires, all seasons, siped work well. Worn tires are not your friend in the snow.

Leave earlier to give yourself extra time to get there, school won't care if you're a few mins late during snow days.
Go slow, we all know there are assholes out there that will be going faster, don't worry about them, you do you, if they hit you it's on them.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to find a empty parking lot and do some donuts, get used to how your car handles when it loses traction. If you lose traction, tack your foot off the accelerator, don't hit the brakes. Go have fun in a empty parking lot, be careful there aren't any parking barriers that might be buried by snow.

If you have a car or truck with front wheel drive, get some sandbags at your local hardware store and place them in the trunk or bed of your vehicle. That added weight will balance out the load and you won’t fishtail when you turn. Saved me during my first year at BSU during snowmageddon

I'm in Nampa now - in a neighborhood. Snow is heavy and slushy. I'm guessing once on main streets, it will be fine but still snowing here (9 AM).

leave early and avoid most of the traffic. Roads will be better later for your return trip

If you're afraid to drive, call an Uber. Being too slow and white-knuckled makes you a hazard.
