This law was enacted after many Planned Parenthoods were bombed and targeted in the 90's. It has allowed countless women to get abortions safely in the US. To think that this was enacted under George W. Bush in 2001. I never thought I'd yearn for those times.
"The new directive, written by the chief of staff to the attorney general, Chad Mizelle, instructs prosecutors to enforce the law only in "extraordinary circumstances" or in instances when death, wherein extreme bodily harm or significant property damage result."
"According to the Justice Department memo, future FACE Act violations will mostly be left to state or local law enforcement, with exceptions for federal investigations in cases "presenting significant aggravating factors."
I'm beside myself, we are 6 days in.

Life for so many people has become desperately unsafe in 6 days. It's absolutely incomprehensible what it will be like in 1 month let alone 1 year. This is so upsetting.

That isn’t just about abortion centers - it’s women’s healthcare centers.
Meaning you could be going in for your Pap smear or mammogram and be in danger.
To anyone who didn’t vote and/or voted Republican - F off.

The wheels are off the train. Project 2025 is here.
I hope Republican women who voted for this or who abstained from voting get everything they didn’t realize they brought upon women. And for everyone else - hold onto your butts.

This is utterly terrifying. We are only 6 days in and realizing that it only took the other guy 53 days to upend democracy and turn it into a fascist dictatorship.

I moved to MN from TN in July and the main reason was because I have a teenage daughter. It’s not safe in red states and I grieve for the people trapped in them.

I’m trying to understand this better. To be clear, I’m 1000% pro-choice. I don’t doubt this is bad news for women’s right to access reproductive medical care. Im trying to understand how it will play out.
Without the FACE Act, let’s say someone shoots a BB gun (an example referenced in the article) at a reproductive health center and damages either people and/or property.
Under the FACE Act, they would be charged federally and have to go through the federal court system? But now, it will be up to cops and the judicial system in whatever city/county it takes place in to decide if/how to charge the person? (Im hoping it’s still illegal to physically harm random people in all of our state laws...)
Is it the assumption that cops/judicial systems in areas that are staunchly pro-life will turn a blind eye to charging actions of violence like this?

I’m going to be off work for a month recovering from a surgery.
I’ll be spending my time at CPC locations screaming about how they lie to women and dont have medical professionals on site.
They fought against laws to prevent people from being harassed while accessing medical care. It’s time to show them what they fought for.

It's a chipping block starting with the abortions and then progressing to the 19th Amendment everything is chipping away at our rights

Real question - why are women still voluntarily having sex with men? I can’t imagine ever having a partner that makes these dire consequences worthwhile.

Furst, what is the question?
Decond, I'm not sure why you guys want federal taking care of this? States are supposed to police their own except for matters that belong to the federal government (such as immigration)
