He was trying to decide whether to pay for his daughter’s college or buy a new boat. I have no problem with kids paying their own way through college, as much as they have the means to, but it was the way he said it. He was concerned about “the optics” of it. There was something about that bit of corporate-speak that made me go, “Ick.”

As a mother of 2 who only dreams of being able to pay for her kids college, I couldn’t even begin to fathom this being a ‘dilemma’. I don’t think my husband would either. Like WTF is wrong with people?!

My parents decided as I was applying for colleges to buy the family cottage (half a million dollars), then harass me for not applying for scholarships every waking moment since they couldn’t afford my tuition.
