I have to pluck my chin hairs now. And with a frequency I find alarming.

Moisturizer everywhere all the time. Way less makeup. My hair is insane these days—I’m not obsessed with it being perfect. Outfits are for comfort and function.

I've become much, much more relaxed.
In my early 20s I wouldn't be caught dead leaving the house with no makeup, unpainted nails, hair that wasn't perfectly styled, no earrings, or anything that made me look anything less than perfectly put together.
Now I really don't care... I don't go out looking like a slob, no dirty clothes or PJs outside or anything like that, but it's fine if I'm not wearing makeup, or if my hair is a little messy. If I'm just going out for groceries I'll put on a comfy dress or leggings with a tee, and don't bother with makeup or accessories.

I grew up very sheltered with strict rules and no autonomy over my appearance.
Now I have money and freedom so I have more products (though not significantly more) and I can do what I want unless a work function which is still me just adjusted for the tasks/networking depending on the situation.
I can shave if I want to, wear my hair how I wish, use products I would have never been allowed or been given access to earn money for and more.

I stopped wearing make-up and I stopped shaving in my early 20s. Besides that no changes.

Not a ton of change, but I’ve gotten faster at doing things. I used to spend two hours doing makeup and getting dressed (with friends) before going out at night. Now I’m ready to go in 20 min. Same with showering, I don’t really hang out in there, I just do what I need to do pretty quickly and leave.

Depression had made personal hygiene difficult for me in my late teens and early twenties. I barely brushed my teeth….I also realize I was never taught certain things that you definitely need to be taught as a child. I’m not thick, but somethings kids do not magically realize on their own and I never thought to use the internet to learn how to clean myself. I had no interest in hygiene as a young person and I didn’t know there was anything wrong with what I did. Anyway in my mid and now late twenties, I do have a desire to learn proper hygiene and feel proud of my appearance. Now I have really focused on using quality products and services and investing in the things here and there that makes me feel pampered and beautiful. I don’t do my nails at the salon as much and keep them natural 90% of the time, I don’t dye my hair or experiment with hair cuts as much anymore but I pay for nicer hair products and it’s so healthy and shiny now. I consider food and exercise apart of grooming because it really impacts my mood and energy levels and how I present myself everyday. So many things are less focused on trying to fit in and follow trends and purchase low quality easy hanging fruit/products, and now it’s more about inner beauty for me, and I can’t wait to be wiser

I shave less, use dry shampoo more often, and take better care of my skin (learned that less is more)

I’m far less experimental with skincare products. I stick to the tried and true.
I wear less makeup, and it’s the same thing with sticking to my holy grail products and the trend-proof look that works for me. Feeling familiar and comfortable with yourself is nice.
I can finally afford regular manicures and pedicures, and I do them as a treat to myself.

You bet your ass my dental hygiene got vamped up once I started getting dental bills insurance didn’t cover.
I actually always struggled with grooming and hygiene, but I developed and stuck to a skincare routine (it was the start of my journey out of PTSD). I got laser hair removal.
My nails are still terrible.

More anal about oral (teehee) hygiene. Less strict about shaving.

As a teen, painted nails, perfectly styled hair, perfect set of clothes and light make-up. Nowadays, with 5 kids? Lipstick, eyeliner and painted nails.

More skincare now with anti-aging products. But everything else is pretty much the same!

I now use a leave in product for my hair after showering and use a glossing product once a week.
My skincare has changed a bit too. I’ve gotten better about moisturizing, use a couple retinol products, and use a vitamin C serum every morning.
For makeup, I’ve started using a powder and setting spray.

I've gotten a lot, lot better at it. When I was about 24 I gave up trying to keep up with trends, and just mastered one way of doing my makeup, one good updo, a great blow out, and the same self-care routine every day. The result is that I can get ready faster, and with greater skill than when I was constantly trying new things, practicing, and following beauty/makeup/hair influencers.

I think the biggest change is all the facial hair removal. Every month there’s a new hair or two. Such is life I guess.

In college I used to shave my legs every day, wore very little makeup, never moisturized, occasionally used sunscreen.
Now I shave once or twice a month, wear makeup everyday, moisturizer like my life depends on it and don't go outside without sunscreen.

Ironically, i put more care into my hair now than I did 10 years ago, but that's due in part to aging /moving to another climate. I have more of a skincare routine than I did in my early 20s and I'm much more diligent about spf. I'm still a heavy makeup user and I care a lot about my appearance but it's for me and not for others if that makes sense. It's never a chore & how I look really plays into how i feel!

More appreciation for flossing my teeth as an adult than as a kid lol no longer cutting my hair and getting it professionally cut. I will never attempt to cut my own hair ever again. It's good for my hair, my self-esteem, and they just know how to frame my face better than I can!

I stopped shaving at 36, and shower much less at 40 at maybe three times per week. I swear I’m not gross though

When I was a teenager, you wouldn't have caught me dead without perfectly shaved legs and armpits, but now that I'm in my twenties, I really don't bother with it anymore. If someone has an issue with me having body hair where it naturally grows, they can go suck a dick... I did get better at caring for my naturally wavy head hair though!
