5 a day is outdated advice. It's been upgraded to 30 different plants per week.

They’re not contradictory.

The “30 different plants” thing is from one experiment where they compared them with people who eat fewer than 10 and found they had better gut health. It’s almost certainly not bad advice and it’d probably be hard to not get a decent amount of fibre if you achieve that goal but five a day is probably simpler advice for most people.

Cos setting a harder target when so few people were even accomplishing the minimum is a great way to improve health lol

Whenever I tell people about this new rule, they always lose motivation.
