The business model completely relies on hooking people long term, on promoting yo-yoing weight, which is deeply unhealthy, far more so than just staying fat in the first place.

• If the product works* then they don’t need to hook anyone on anything. If they could permanently cure someone of obesity in two weeks they’d be the richest company in the uk within a year. A successful weight loss solution is worth trillions, there are hundreds of millions of potential customers and new fat people are being made every year.

I’m not saying slimming world does work. In fact everything I’ve heard about it makes it sound absolutely shite. But its failings are obviously not because curing obesity is a “bad business model”. *Of course* that’s not the case.

The reason Novo Nordisk skyrocketed to the becoming the most valuable company in Europe is precisely because ozempic actually works. Effective weight loss is never going to be a bad business model.
