View submission: Does Slimming World make sense?
It’s only hard for stupid/undisciplined people. Eat less, cardio more. Absolutely nothing to it. The vast majority of the worldwide population would do fine with that.

I think that’s a little unfair. It’s the same kind of attitude as ‘cancel Netflix and you can buy a house’.
People who struggle with their weight could do so for a variety of reasons. For one thing we simply have less people in our homes preparing meals these days. When I was growing up my mum was a stay at home wife who prepared healthy nutritional meals everyday. Now with both partners working it is harder to cook from scratch. Add that to the temptation of food delivery apps and it’s hard to completely blame people for choosing the convenient option.
There is a reason parents often put on weight (middle aged spread) and it’s because you have less time for yourself to go to the gym or cook healthily.
Not to mention that once the weight goes on it’s a big effort to shift it. There are no easy workouts when you are out of shape and it takes a long period of discipline to see results which then factors into motivation.

The vast majority of people clearly don't do fine with it though, considering how many are overweight. I've never been fat myself so don't know what it's like, but if you look at it objectively: most people in this country are overweight. The diet industry is worth millions. Therefore: losing weight isn't "nothing to it" else everyone would be skinny.
