View submission: Does Slimming World make sense?
The whole messaging of "fill your boots with as much pasta as you can eat" (back away from that avocado though) is so dysfunctional.

Exactly! I love pasta.
How do I very easily gain weight? Eating lots of pasta.

Not that I’m a huge SW fan, that isn’t isn’t quite how it’s sold - although pasta and potato is syn free, it’s very clear about having it as a balance so that most of your plate is vegetables and protein. People that just hear the “max 15 syns a day” and don’t read the rest of the book are the ones who are likely to fail.

I used to be terrified of avocado when I was at slimming world. Now I eat 2 a week and I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for a long time!

My other half insists that swapping out sandwiches for pasta is a good way to lose weight because bread is too many carbs, sounds like Weightwatchers are to blame.

It doesn't make any sense as pasta is so high in calories. At the start of the diet people aren't that starved and are motivated so they lose weight. As the diet goes on those this falls off the cliff and the amount of 'free' food they eat increases. So they stop losing/put weight back on therefore needing them to restart the programme. Perpetual money for slimming world.
